Where to practise your ethical hacking lessons
Only practise on targets that exist for the purpose. For example, TryHackMe, Hack The Box and the PortSwigger Web Security Academy all give you systems you are allowed to attack. However, never practise on a system that is not yours.
Methods that structure the lessons
Read the OWASP Web Security Testing Guide and the Penetration Testing Execution Standard. So scattered techniques become a repeatable process, which is what employers are buying.
An honest note about paid lessons
Much of the training industry oversells. However, a certificate does not produce a job offer on its own. Therefore lab write-ups and a coordinated disclosure record usually matter more than the badge count.
